This two-volume set constitutes the refereed proceedings of the workshops which complemented the 21th Joint European Conference on Machine Learning and Knowledge Discovery in Databases, ECML PKDD, held in September 2021. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the conference and workshops were held online. The 104 papers were thoroughly reviewed and selected from 180 papers submited for the workshops. This two-volume set includes the proceedings of the following workshops:Workshop on Advances in Interpretable Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence (AIMLAI 2021)Workshop on Parallel, Distributed and Federated Learning (PDFL 2021)Workshop on Graph Embedding and Mining (GEM 2021)Workshop on Machine L...
This volume constitutes the papers of the 4th International Workshop on Active Inference, IWAI 2023, held in Ghent, Belgium on September 2023. The 17 full papers included in this book were carefully reviewed and selected from 34 submissions. They were organized in topical sections as follows: active inference and robotics; decision-making and control; active inference and psychology; from theory to implementation; learning representations for active inference; and theory of learning and inference.
Zusammenfassung: This book highlights cutting-edge research in the field of network science, offering scientists, researchers, students and practitioners a unique update on the latest advances in theory and a multitude of applications. It presents the peer-reviewed proceedings of the XII International Conference on Complex Networks and their Applications (COMPLEX NETWORKS 2023). The carefully selected papers cover a wide range of theoretical topics such as network embedding and network geometry; community structure, network dynamics; diffusion, epidemics and spreading processes; machine learning and graph neural networks as well as all the main network applications, including social and political networks; networks in finance and economics; biological networks and technological networks
This volume constitutes the papers of several workshops which were held in conjunction with the International Workshops of ECML PKDD 2022 on Machine Learning and Principles and Practice of Knowledge Discovery in Databases, ECML PKDD 2022, held in Grenoble, France, during September 19–23, 2022. The 73 revised full papers and 6 short papers presented in this book were carefully reviewed and selected from 143 submissions. ECML PKDD 2022 presents the following five workshops: Workshop on Data Science for Social Good (SoGood 2022) Workshop on New Frontiers in Mining Complex Patterns (NFMCP 2022) Workshop on Explainable Knowledge Discovery in Data Mining (XKDD 2022) Workshop on Uplift Modeling (UMOD 2022) Workshop on IoT, Edge and Mobile for Embedded Machine Learning (ITEM 2022) Workshop on Mining Data for Financial Application (MIDAS 2022) Workshop on Machine Learning for Cybersecurity (MLCS 2022) Workshop on Machine Learning for Buildings Energy Management (MLBEM 2022) Workshop on Machine Learning for Pharma and Healthcare Applications (PharML 2022) Workshop on Data Analysis in Life Science (DALS 2022) Workshop on IoT Streams for Predictive Maintenance (IoT-PdM 2022)
This book is the result of a multi-year research project led and sponsored by the University of Chieti-Pescara, National Chengchi University, University of Salamanca, and Osaka University. It is the fifth volume to emerge from that international project, held under the aegis of the United Nations Academic Impact in 2020. All the essays in this volume were (virtually) discussed at the University of L’Aquila―as the venue of the 2nd International Conference on Decision Economics, a three-day global gathering of approximately one hundred scholars and practitioners—and were subjected to thorough peer review by leading experts in the field. The essays reflect the extent, diversity, and richn...
This book is based on the International Conference on Decision Economics (DECON 2019). Highlighting the fact that important decision-making takes place in a range of critical subject areas and research fields, including economics, finance, information systems, psychology, small and international business, management, operations, and production, the book focuses on analytics as an emerging synthesis of sophisticated methodology and large data systems used to guide economic decision-making in an increasingly complex business environment. DECON 2019 was organised by the University of Chieti-Pescara (Italy), the National Chengchi University of Taipei (Taiwan), and the University of Salamanca (Spain), and was held at the Escuela politécnica Superior de Ávila, Spain, from 26th to 28th June, 2019. Sponsored by IEEE Systems Man and Cybernetics Society, Spain Section Chapter, and IEEE Spain Section (Technical Co-Sponsor), IBM, Indra, Viewnext, Global Exchange, AEPIA-and-APPIA, with the funding supporting of the Junta de Castilla y León, Spain (ID: SA267P18-Project co-financed with FEDER funds)
The book focuses on original approaches intended to support the development of biologically inspired cognitive architectures. It bridges together different disciplines, including artificial intelligence, linguistics, neuro- and social sciences, psychology and philosophy of mind, among others. The chapters are based on contributions presented at the 12th Annual Meeting of the BICA Society (BICA 2021), which consisted of two parallel virtual events: Information in Biologically Inspired Cognitive Architectures based Systems, held during the 2021 Summit of the International Society for the Study of Information, on September 12-19, 2021, from Vienna, Austria, and the 2021 International Workshop o...
The special session on Decision Economics (DECON) is a scientific forum held annually, which is focused on sharing ideas, projects, research results, models, and experiences associated with the complexity of behavioural decision processes and socio‐economic phenomena. In 2018, DECON was held at Campus Tecnológico de la Fábrica de Armas, University of Castilla-La Mancha, Toledo, Spain, as part of the 15th International Conference on Distributed Computing and Artificial Intelligence. For the third consecutive year, this book have drawn inspiration from Herbert A. Simon’s interdisciplinary legacy and, in particular, is devoted to designs, models, and techniques for boundedly rational deci...
The first comprehensive treatment of active inference, an integrative perspective on brain, cognition, and behavior used across multiple disciplines. Active inference is a way of understanding sentient behavior—a theory that characterizes perception, planning, and action in terms of probabilistic inference. Developed by theoretical neuroscientist Karl Friston over years of groundbreaking research, active inference provides an integrated perspective on brain, cognition, and behavior that is increasingly used across multiple disciplines including neuroscience, psychology, and philosophy. Active inference puts the action into perception. This book offers the first comprehensive treatment of a...
