I don't know what came over me as checked Facebook before my mid-morning nap. Saw this news post from a site I'd not heard of before, Index: Wiltshire. I quickly despatched a message to them, without any real thought as to the implications of my actions. That moment of lunacy is why we are here today, with this book; all I can do is apologise. Forward wind a year and No Surprises Living in Devizes has become a bit of a "thing," the best description I can come up with. Every Sunday a new episode goes live like the unleashing of a crazed dragon on steroids. I face a plethora of responses and feedback; some are nice. There's brute honesty in the causerie journalism doesn't usually convey in this day and age. It also brings a straightforward view on life in our traditional market town, with wonky edges.

I am not Frazzle!
Here is the deal, we take 10 great authors, give them the freedom to write a story in their own style and genre as long as the general theme has children involved. Next we put them in a big pot (the stories not the authors) and mix them up a bit to see what comes out at the end. And here it is, a marvellous mixture of inspiring, entertaining, funny and thought provoking fables that will delight every grown up from here to the Land of Lorff ... Huh? There ain't no pleasing some people. Take Barry for example, most of us would be content soaring through the cosmos in a spacecraft, but for our pasty-addicted, antihero white space-van pilot it's nothing more than mundane. Delivering medical supplies to faraway colonies his employment, is also his curse. He only dedicates effort to skiving and generally loathing his job; it is the English way. His obnoxious and selfish employers depress him, his family ignore him, his colleagues assist his irritation with merciless banter, and even the onboard computer drives him up the wall, across the ceiling and out through the sunroof. Little wonder then Barry yearns for change. He waits for something to slap in the chops and guide him to it, rather than motivate himself to act on the reverie. But when it transpires and adventure ensues, well, Barry still whinges like a stuck Pat Boone record; But it is a Tuesday, he's only supposed to go as far as Io.........

Stingers

She phones the school to try and put a stop to the cruel bullying of her son. But her phone call only makes things worse, as the bullying escalates to levels that nobody imagined possible.
