Two items, signed letter, photocopy of letter with typescript from the South Carolina Department of Archives and History from David Frederick Nardin to Ellinor St. Clair Waller Brown. Writing from Columbia, South Carolina, Nardin mentions things that happened over the course of a week: a performance by a magician named Senior Vivala; a military parade that Nardin mocked; and military exercises. He also mentions the repeal of a law by the South Carolina General Assembly before seeing Senior Vivala's performance. Nardin mentions the transfer of power from Governor George McDuffie to Pierce Butler at the State House on 10 Dec. 1836. Letter transcribed by Robert Duckworth.
Drawing on diverse philosophical and theological perspectives, the contributors to this collection debate the character of international society, the authority of international law and institutions, and the demands of international justice.
