Die Beiträge in diesem Buch beschäftigen sich mit der Entwicklung der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Psychologie (DGPs) innerhalb von 120 Jahren, wobei der Schwerpunkt auf der Zeit nach ihrer Wiedergründung ab dem Jahr 1949 liegt. Es handelt sich hier also um die erste umfassende Darstellung zur DGPs-Geschichte. Als wesentliche Datenbasis fungierte das kürzlich digitalisierte Archiv der DGPs-Vorstandsakten, das die Arbeit der DGPs-Vorstände nach Kriegsende dokumentiert. Da entsprechende Materialien für die Zeit bis 1945 nicht mehr existieren, war man hier auf die Auswertung von Kongress- und Zeitschriftenberichten beschränkt.
