Manuela Spangler deals with the default risk modelling of German covered bonds (Pfandbriefe). Existing credit risk models are not suitable for this purpose as they only consider the creditworthiness of the issuer while product-specific features are not taken into account. The author develops a multi-period simulation-based Pfandbrief model which adequately accounts for the product’s most important characteristics and risks. The model provides a flexible framework for structural analyses and can be easily extended for tailor-made investigations. While the focus of the work is on the specification of the model itself, simulation results from an exemplary model calibration are also discussed. About the Author Manuela Spangler works as a quantitative risk analyst for a large asset management company and holds a PhD in mathematics from the University of Augsburg. Prior to her current position, she worked as a risk manager and financial engineer in the banking and insurance sector for various years.

Theoretical Approaches to Linguistic Variation

The contributions of this book deal with the issue of language variation. They all share the assumption that within the language faculty the variation space is hierarchically constrained and that minimal changes in the set of property values defining each language give rise to diverse outputs within the same system. Nevertheless, the triggers for language variation can be different and located at various levels of the language faculty. The novelty of the volume lies in exploring different loci of language variation by including wide-ranging empirical perspectives that cover different levels of analysis (syntax, phonology and prosody) and deal with different kinds of data, mostly from Romance...

Tourism is an economic and social phenomenon that is centered on a tourist’s experience and is dependent on the experiences that are co-created and provided to tourists. Tourism destination managers must understand what tourists perceive as engaging, intense, and memorable in order to remain successful. However, care must also be given to the residents’ perception of local tourism development and how it impacts their community. This is a fundamental aspect for tourism development since host communities that support tourism development tend to be more hospitable with tourists, which influences their satisfaction and loyalty. Moreover, the interaction with residents of host communities is ...
