The Rose and Geryon
The Rose and Geryon examines patterns of verbal behavior in works by Jean de Meun and Dante (with a focus on the Romance of the Rose and the Divine Comedy) in relationship with the most influential systems of verbal sins in the Middle Ages, systems elaborated by William Peraldus, Thomas Aquinas, Domenico Cavalca, and Laurent of Orléans. The book begins with a presentation of these four systems, and from there proceeds to analyze Jean de Meun's Testament as a possible source of influence for the Divine Comedy and take a closer look at Dante's prose works in search for a comprehensive theory of sinful speech. Under the Spell of the Palm Tree
In collaboration with The Cuban Arts Group, the Harn Museum of Art at the University of Florida produced a catalogue in conjunction with the exhibition "Under the Spell of the Palm Tree: The Rice Collection of Cuban Art" on view from July 11, 2023 - January 7, 2024. The works in the catalogue and the exhibition are drawn exclusively from the collection of Susie and Mitchell Rice and offer a glimpse into the complexity of culture and history that has inspired Cuban art throughout the 20th century and into the 21st century. Guest curators Gabriela Azcuy and David Horta utilized the work of a broad range of artists in the Rice Collection to provide an inclusive view of Cuban art, reflecting on its current dynamic and the existence of new geographies as an essential part of its reality. Through more than 70 works representing 54 artists, the exhibition will present the narrative of a "crossing"--a virtual crossing of the seas as well as a crossing of generations, of artists living or having lived both in Cuba and in the Diaspora.

Approaches to Teaching the Romance of the Rose
One of the most influential texts of its time, the Romance of the Rose offers readers a window into the world view of the late Middle Ages in Europe, including notions of moral philosophy and courtly love. Yet the Rose also explores topics that remain relevant to readers today, such as gender, desire, and the power of speech. Students, however, can find the work challenging because of its dual authorship by Guillaume de Lorris and Jean de Meun, its structure as an allegorical dream vision, and its encyclopedic length and scope. The essays in this volume offer strategies for teaching the poem with confidence and enjoyment. Part 1, "Materials," suggests helpful background resources. Part 2, "Approaches," presents contexts, critical approaches, and strategies for teaching the work and its classical and medieval sources, illustrations, and adaptations as well as the intellectual debates that surrounded it.
