My Grandmother's Family
Joseph Strock I (b.ca. 1748) immigrated from the Palatinate of Germany to Northampton (now Lehigh) County, Pennsylvania. He married Susan Bensinger about 1769 and after her death, married her sister, Elizabeth (Betsey) Bensinger. Joseph F. Strock (1824-1908), a grandson, was born near Ellsworth, Trumbull (now Mahoning) County, Ohio, moved to Cosby, Andrew County, Missouri, and married Minerva Jane Spence in 1847. Descendants and relatives lived in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Missouri, Colorado, Nevada and elsewhere.

Durant's Right-Hand Man
Edwin Campbell was born in rural Ontario, graduated from medical school and settled in Flint where he met Billy Durant and married Durant's daughter Margery. Campbell gave up his medical practice in order to work with Durant in the creation of General Motors. When Durant and Campbell lost control of GM in 1910, Campbell became a founder of the Chevrolet Motor Company which he and Durant built up so that they could use Chevrolet shares to regain control of GM. Campbell's early friendship with Sam McLaughlin as a contributing factor to the creation of General Motors of Canada. Durant became a Wall Street guru and helped Campbell to become immensely wealthy. The Campbells moved to New York and became immersed in the social life of the city. After their divorce in 1919 Margery wound her way through a number of well publicized affairs and marriages. Following Campbell's death in 1929, Durant's life began slow spiral into ill health and eventual poverty. Margery was introduced to her fourth husband by her friend Amelia Earhart. This biography takes the reader through the intrigue of the automotive history of the early twentieth century, as well as the social history of the period.

George Durant (d.1687), son of Thomas Durant and grandson of Richard Durant, immigrated from England to Malden, Massachusetts during or or before 1662, and later moved to Middletown, Connecticut. Descen- dants and relatives lived in New England, New York, Maryland, Michi- gan, Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Missouri, California and elsewhere.

John Fowle (1756-1823) was a son of Edmund Fowle and Abigail Whitney of Watertown, Massachusetts. John served in the Revolutionary War under LaFayette, and married Mary Cooke in 1782, living in Watertown. Descendants and relatives lived in New England, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, North Carolina and elsewhere. Some descendants lived in England, France, Italy and elsewhere. Includes some ancestry and family history in England, France and elsewhere.

Thomas J. Moore, son of Willian Dean Moore (1822-1898) and Lusana White (1829-1880), was born in 1852 in Seymour, Indiana. He married Mary Elizabeth Tadlok (1860-1923), daughter of Thomas Christopher Tadlock (1838-1886) and Sarah Elizabeth Jones, in 1879 in Stanford, Iowa. Ancestors, descendants and relatives lived mainly in North Carolina, Indiana, Missouri and Minnesota.
