Over many decades, John Randolph and his older brother, Edward, collaborated to write the limericks in this book. They volleyed words back and forth across the Pacific Ocean via fax and U.S. mail. Determined to be the best, they wrote and rewrote these poems many times over. On one occasion, Edward fired back a letter regarding a limerick he determined should be final: "Enough already," he declared. "That's it! OK?" Apparently it was, for that limerick appears in this book just at it was typewritten and signed, "Love, Ed."
