The Descendants of Joseph F. Smith (1838-1918)
Joseph F. Smith (1838-1918) was born at Far West, Missouri, the son of Hyrum and Mary Fielding Smith. After his father was killed, he migrated to Utah with his mother. He married five times and was the father of forty three children. He was president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at the time of his death in Salt Lake City. Descendants lived in Utah, Idaho, California, and elsewhere.

Alexanders of Cannon Co., TN
Rev. James Alexander and Mary Maxwell were married in Scotland. They had nine children, 1646-1665. The family immigrated to America and settled in North Carolina. Their great grandson, Ezekiel Alexander (b. 1754), a Revolutionary War soldier, married Jemima Esther McCoy in 1772/3. They had eight children, 1774-1789. The family migrated to Tennessee, ca. 1799. Their grandson, Benjamin C. Alexander (1848-1909), married Nancy Elizabeth Davenport (1857- 1949) in 1872. They had ten children, 1873-1897, all born in Cannon County, Tennessee. Descendants listed lived in Tennessee, Indiana, Kentucky, and elsewhere.
