The Dead of Summer

The Dead of Summer

It was in the dead of summer, the hottest on record when it came to "Comal del Diablo" The Devil's Griddle, a two building remote desert hamlet near the California/Mexico border in the Imperial Valley. It was also the summer that brought the most violent sandstorm in the previous one hundred years. It was the summer when Jack cast the final link in the chain of events that turned into an incantation and evoked the deadly wrath of the centuries old legend that pursued him to Comal del Diablo, and exacted its revenge. Daylight eventually grasped the meaning of the signs and visions she was having that pointed to who the unearthly killer was and how it connected to Jack and she tried to convince Gabe. Only fate would tell if it would be too late.

A Unified Statistical Methodology for Modeling Fatigue Damage

This book is an attempt to provide a uni?ed methodology to derive models for fatigue life. This includes S-N, ?-N and crack propagation models. This is not a conventional book aimed at describing the fatigue fundamentals, but rather a book in which the basic models of the three main fatigue approaches, the stress-based, the strain-based and the fracture mechanics approaches, are contemplated from a novel and integrated point of view. On the other hand, as an alternative to the preferential attention paid to deterministic models based on the physical, phenomenological and empirical description of fatigue, their probabilistic nature is emphasized in this book, in which stochastic fatigue and c...

Latinos have been part of the Hollywood film industry for more than 100 years, yet beyond the remarkable success of a few, their visibility and clout have generally not reflected their significance in American society. Worse, the Latino image has suffered from widespread stereotyping in film, and performers face unjustified constraints in the kinds of roles available to them. Decade by decade from 1960 onward, this book analyzes important films made by or about Latinos, details the careers of Latino performers and filmmakers of the time, and analyzes how film portrayals of Latino characters and subjects connect with political and social trends of each decade. It discusses the role of gender, social class, and ethnicity in film portrayals and provides an overview of the diverse and dynamic Latino community in the United States, while celebrating a substantial and enduring contribution to Hollywood film history.

Who was Who on TV

The information herein was accumulated of fifty some odd years. The collection process started when TV first came out and continued until today. The books are in alphabetical order and cover shows from the 1940s to 2010. The author has added a brief explanation of each show and then listed all the characters, who played the roles and for the most part, the year or years the actor or actress played that role. Also included are most of the people who created the shows, the producers, directors, and the writers of the shows. These books are a great source of trivia information and for most of the older folk will bring back some very fond memories. I know a lot of times we think back and say, "Who was the guy that played such and such a role?" Enjoy!
