Eric Hattan is known for his canny interventions in public places and causing surprise by thwarting the familiar order. This is also the case at the Museum Langmatt, which invited the Swiss artist to playfully intervene on its premises. The historic villa with its mahogany parquet flooring, fine carpets, chandeliers, and manicured garden provides a contrasting foil for Hattan's installations, composed of worn clothing, metal parts, and other less exquisite materials. Five o'clock Shadow documents the ensuing dialogue that spans from the rich contrast between the present and the Belle Epoque, and shows how the venerable building is being tangibly enlivened. ERIC HATTAN (*1955, Wettingen, Switzerland), who lives in Basel and Paris, is one of Switzerland's most inventive conceptual artists. His artistic language shows itself chameleon-like in diverse media and has received international attention for many years.

Arter initiates a new publication series, Arter Background, to accompany group exhibitions drawn from its collection, which holds more than 1,300 works of art as of 2019. This first book of the series accompanies one of the opening exhibitions of Arter’s new building, a collection-based group exhibition entitled What Time Is It?. Precision and Madness

Swiss Made: Precision and Madness sets the famous Swiss tendency toward precision and order alongside the tendency toward obstinacy and chaos, pairing canonical works with pieces made within the past 40 years. Cinematic Aided Design: An Everyday Life Approach to Architecture provides architects, planners, designer practitioners, politicians and decision makers with a new awareness of the practice of everyday life through the medium of film. However, cinema has over the last 120 years represented, interpreted and portrayed hundreds of thousands of everyday life situations taking place in a wide range of dwellings, streets and cities. Film constitutes the most comprehensive lived in building data in existence. Cinema created a comprehensive encyclopedia of architectural spaces and building elements. It has exposed large fragments of our everyday life and everyday environment that this book is aiming to reveal and restitute.
L'archipel du dessin
Le dessin. Quelle trace plus instinctive ? Mais aussi quel langage plus conceptuel ? Le plus vieux medium artistique du monde occupe une place de premier plan dans l’art contemporain. Par ses artistes comme par ses institutions, la Suisse entretient depuis longtemps un lien privilégié avec le dessin.
