Anne Larkin was in London to soak up atmosphere. The trouble was the wrong atmosphere could get a girl killed! It was just a post-graduation trip to England to wallow in museums and see the sites. Or it was until Anne Larkin landed in the wrong place at the right time and was mistaken by one man to be a thief's cohort, and by the thief to be a police plant. And both men decided that romancing her was the way to keep his nemesis from the reportedly cursed and very valuable alexandrite stone known as Nikrova's Passion. Set in 1989, NIKROVA'S PASSION is a fast-paced romp with danger, deception, romance and love. Originally published in 1990, the current edition has undergone a bit of tinkering by the author. Just stylistic changes. Fear not! Barely 5% of the tale shifted wording. No part of the original story sustained injury in the process. "Bursting with energy."" The Life and Comics of Howard Cruse

Nominated for the 2022 Eisner Award - Best Academic/Scholarly Work The Life and Comics of Howard Cruse tells the remarkable story of how a self-described “preacher’s kid” from Birmingham, Alabama, became the so-called “Godfather of Gay Comics.” This study showcases a remarkable fifty-year career that included working in the 1970s underground comics scene, becoming founding editor of the groundbreaking anthology series Gay Comix, and publishing the graphic novel Stuck Rubber Baby, partially based on his own experience of coming of age in the Civil Rights era. Through his exploration of Cruse’s life and work, Andrew J. Kunka also chronicles the dramatic ways that gay culture change...

Sisters in Sorcery

A swan turns into a naked man. A museum formed of everything ever lost and forgotten, from treasures to torment. A web containing past, present, and future. Three otherwise ordinary sisters encounter magic. Viola dives into a twisted version of Swan Lake plus The Magic Flute at college in Swan & Shadow. Bea explores the depths of loss and remembrance in The Museum of All Things Lost & Forgotten. Rose lacks magic, but manages to make a difference in The Webmasters of Fate. Contains previously published works.

How does contemporary art best respond to social crisis? Through reflection on its own crisis of form Criticism of contemporary art is split by an opposition between activism and the critical function of form. Yet the deeper, more subterranean terms of art-judgment are largely neglected on both sides. These essays combine a re-examination of the terms of judgement of contemporary art with critical interpretations of individual works and exhibitions by Luis Camnitzer, Marcel Duchamp, Matias Faldbakken, Anne Imhof and Cady Noland. The book moves from philosophical issues, via the lingering shadows of medium-specificity (in photography and art music), and the changing states of museums, to analyses of the peculiar ways that works of art relate to time.To give artistic form to crisis, it is suggested, one needs to understand contemporary art’s own constitutive crisis of form.
