Research on the Cox family genealogy was begun by Rev. Simeon O. Coxe (1877-1955). Verl F. Weight (one of the many descendants of the Cox family) and Mrs. Charles W. Cox (Willie Miller) further researched, compiled and published the information into the first edition in mimeographed copies in 1962. Genealogy of the Robertson, Small and Related Families
William Robertson (1752-1825) was born in Scotland, and in 1762, as an orphan, went to Ireland to live with his bachelor uncle, Gilbert Robertson. They immigrated in 1772 to Washington County, New York. William married Mary Livingston in 1775. Descendants lived throughout most of the United States.
