Pipe Stress Analysis is analyzing the hot and large piping systems so that code stresses are not exceeded. Piping loads on equipment nozzles should be calculated and compared with vendor allowable nozzle loads. This book gives basic principles with examples for entry level and experienced engineers.
Human capital is an important factor for economic growth in South Asia. Between 1981 and 2010, human capital contributed about 22% of annual gross domestic product per worker growth in India. During the same period, it contributed around 21% in Bangladesh, and 16% in Sri Lanka. However, education and skills remain the binding constraint. Raising the quality of education and skills in South Asia's workforce can play a critical role in catching up to the level of development of the People's Republic of China, the Republic of Korea, and other successful Southeast Asian economies. This study reviews the development of human capital in South Asia and analyzes contributing factors to human development including policies and strategies that countries in South Asia follow.
The science of taking measurements using photographs is called photogrammetry and it complements the discipline of remote sensing. This book attempts to assist those with a goal of delving into the field of photogrammetry and remote sensing by covering photogrammetric methods and their applications in diverse fields such as architecture, engineering, geology, meteorology, etc. From theories to research to practical applications, case studies related to all contemporary topics of relevance to this field have been included in this book. It is highly recommended for students, academicians and researchers of this field.
This book covers the entire field of satellite geodesy and is intended to serve as a textbook for advanced undergraduate and graduate students, as well as a reference for professionals and scientists in the fields of engineering and geosciences such as geodesy, surveying engineering, geomatics, geography, navigation, geophysics and oceanography. The text provides a systematic overview of fundamentals including reference systems, time, signal propagation and satellite orbits, together with observation methods such as satellite laser ranging, satellite altimetry, gravity field missions, very long baseline interferometry, Doppler techniques, and Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS). Originating as a set of lecture notes for a piping design & analysis workshop, this comprehensive, state-of-the-art reference is the only guide of its kind in print today providing broad coverage of pipe stress & supports engineering. Full of practical 'how-to' information, the book is detailed enough for the seasoned professional, yet easy enough for the novice to understand. In it, the design criteria, codes, standards, & regulations are explained for power piping, fuel gas piping, chemical plant & refining piping, liquid petroleum transportation piping systems, refrigeration piping, gas transmission & distribution piping, building service piping, & nuclear power piping. Clear, thorough, & up-to-date, this text is required reading for all professionals & students in this rapidly changing field.
Rules for piping typically found in petroleum refineries; chemical, pharmaceutical, textile, paper, semiconductor, and cryogenic plants; and related processing plants and terminals. This code prescribes requirements for materials and components, design, fabrication, assembly, erection, examination, inspection, and testing of piping. This Code applies to piping for all fluids including: (1) raw, intermediate, and finished chemicals; (2) petroleum products; (3) gas, steam, air and water; (4) fluidized solids; (5) refrigerants; and (6) cryogenic fluids. Also included is piping which interconnects pieces or stages within a packaged equipment assembly.
The dangers that we face from geohazards appear to be getting worse, especially with the impact of increasing population and global climate change. This collection of papers illustrates how remote sensing technologies - measuring, mapping and monitoring the Earth's surface from aircraft or satellites - can help us to rapidly detect and better manage geohazards. The hazardous terrains examined include areas of landslides, flooding, erosion, contaminated land, shrink-swell clays, subsidence, seismic activity and volcanic landforms. Key aspects of remote sensing are introduced, making this a book that can easily be read by those who are unfamiliar with remote sensing. The featured remote sensing systems include aerial photography and photogrammetry, thermal scanning, hyperspectral sensors, airborne laser altimetry (LiDAR), radar interferometry and multispectral satellites (Landsat, ASTER). Related technologies and methodologies, such as the processing of Digital Elevation Models and data analysis using Geographical Information Systems, are also discussed.
