Kocbekova lirika ne izvira iz nikakršnega intelektualnega igrackanja, temvec se hrani iz globin njegove nemirne duše. Na ta nacin je resnicna zakladnica njegovega mišljenja. Naslovi pesmi redko nakažejo obravnavano temo in moramo vsebinsko povezavo šele odkriti. Pa vendar živi njegova poezija v dialekticnem razponu med duhom in obcutkom. Ciste cutne strasti ni, ta je kvecjemu nakazana. V pesmi "Dialektika" združi avtor doživeto in spontano domišljeno, realno in absurdno, pri cemer izenaci izid "bistrovidne dialektike" s svetopisemskim sporocilom "zadnji bodo prvi". Le kdo si ne bi obesil koštrunu pod trebuh, da se reši iz Polifemove votline. Gospoduje princip: kdor se nahaja zgoraj, mora navzdol, ceprav konec koncev specega ne smemo zbuditi - nasprotno, naj še mocneje spi. This is the first monograph in English on Aldus Manutius in over forty years. It shows how Aldus redefined the role of a book printer, from mere manual laborer to a learned publisher.
