Intraoperative Irradiation
The rationale for using intraoperative irradiation (IORT) is based on the realization that tolerable doses of eternal beam radiation are often insufficient to achieve control of locally advanced malignancies. In these instances, the IORT component of treatment becomes the optimal conformal technique of irradiation, since dose-limiting organs or structures can either be surgically displaced or protected by placement of lead shielding. Target Volume Definition in Radiation Oncology
The main objective of this book is to provide radiation oncologists with a clear, up-to-date guide to tumor delineation and contouring of organs at risk. With this in mind, a detailed overview of recent advances in imaging for radiation treatment planning is presented. Novel concepts for target volume delineation are explained, taking into account the innovations in imaging technology. Special attention is paid to the role of the newer imaging modalities, such as positron emission tomography and diffusion and perfusion magnetic resonance imaging. All of the most important tumor entities treated with radiation therapy are covered in the book. Each chapter is devoted to a particular tumor type and has been written by a recognized expert in that topic.
Collimator-Based Tracking with an Add-On Multileaf Collimator
In this thesis, a tracking system was developed by modifying an add-on collimator, the Siemens Moduleaf, for realtime applications in radiotherapy. As the add-on collimator works almost completely autonomously of the linear accelerator (LinAc), no modifications to the latter were necessary. The adaptations to the Moduleaf were mainly software-based. In order to reduce the complexity of the system, outdated electronic parts were replaced with newer components where practical. Dieser Sammelband ist eine kritische Auseinandersetzung mit der wechselvollen Geschichte des Salzburger Landtages und damit der Landespolitik in den letzten 150 Jahren seit 1861 bzw.1868. Durch die Fokussierung auf den Landtag eröffnet sich eine vollkommen neue Sicht auf die Geschichte des Landes Salzburg. Seit 1868 tritt der Salzburger Landtag zu seinen Sitzungen im Chiemseehof zusammen. Als Sitz des Landesparlaments ist der Chiemseehof der zentrale Ort der demokratischen Mitbestimmung in Salzburg. Der Landtag ist aber auch ein Spiegelbild gesellschaftlicher Veränderungen und Entwicklungen, 150 Jahre gesellschaftspolitischer Dynamik, die auch im Wandel der Politik zum Ausdruck kommt. Describes the political ideology of the Austrian Cartellverband (CV), a federation of Catholic fraternities at Austrian universities, after the First World War. Though conservative and nationalistic, the CV opposed Nazism because of its hostility to the Church, and carried on illegal activities during the Anschluss. Pp. 45-48 discuss the organization's deep-seated antisemitism.
