The Making and Unmaking of the Ukrainian Working Class
Industrial workers in Ukraine have a complex political lifeworld because their political action aimed at bringing radical social change coexists with a demobilizing stance that condemns all political participation as corrupt. This contradictory attitude to politics defines the character of populist mass mobilizations that shook Ukraine in 2004 and 2014, as well as the electoral overhaul of 2019 and the popular response to the Russian invasion in 2022. Béla und Christine
Béla wird als Flüchtlingskind kurz nach dem 2. Weltkrieg in Deutschland geboren. Seine Mutter lebte als Deutsche in Prag, sein Vater floh aus Budapest. Er ernährt seine Familie (Frau und 2 Kinder) als Sportlehrer an einer Sonderschule für Körperbehinderte. In der Mitte seines Lebens gerät er durch das leidenschaftliche Verhältnis zu einer 13 Jahre jüngeren Kollegin und Physiotherapeutin in eine schwere psychische Krise. Die Tiefe dieser Beziehung erschüttert ihn seelisch dermaßen, dass er beginnt, sich äußerst sonderbar zu benehmen. Obwohl er sehr verliebt ist und Christine seine Gefühle erwidert, ist er durch die Vertrautheit, die er in dieser Intensität und Offenheit aus seinen bisherigen Beziehungen zum anderen Geschlecht nicht kennt und die gewissermaßen eine Tabugrenze überschreitet, so verwirrt, dass er zunächst unter Impotenz leidet, ........
