Living the Family Dream
I was about 12 years old in 1946 when the “Brinkworth Family” home-based, kitchen table business was founded, where wooden, hand-built model railway buildings were constructed for the Bassett-Lowke retail store in Manchester England. My story chronicles our early years in the UK, and later the family’s immigration to Canada, and the re-establishing of the family model business here in British Columbia in 1966. At that point in time, the direction of Brinkworth Models took a dramatic turn, as we were propelled unexpectantly, into the colorful world of Motorsports.
