Festo Kivengere
Kivengere was a man of his age. Neither he nor the churches around him were perfect. But they had experienced God in an unusual way. I do not think his theology would meet the robust requirements of today. He was a child of the Keswick movementChrist-centred, pietistic, devotional. His preaching was anecdotal and winsome. It might not fit in easily with much of the evangelical scene as it is today. Our day may demand more accurate theological thinking although we cannot deny that Festo did indeed read deeply, extensively and constantly in very solid theological material. Yet for all that, Festo Kivengere has a great deal to teach us about personal love for Christ, unflagging belief in the power of the cross to save people and great endurance to the end.

Religion and Conflict Resolution
This book examines the ambiguous role that Christianity played in South Africa's Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC). It has two objectives: to analyse the role Christianity played in the TRC and to highlight certain consequences that may be instructive to future international conflict resolution processes. Religion and conflict resolution is an area of significant importance. Ongoing conflicts involving Palestinians and Israelis, Muslims and Hindus, and even radical Islamic jihadists and Western countries have heightened the awareness of the potential power of religion to fuel conflict. Yet these religious traditions also promote peace and respect for others as key components in doing justice. Examining the potential role religion can play in generating peace and justice, specifically Christianity in South Africa's TRC, is of utmost importance as religiously inspired violence continues to occur. This book highlights the importance of accounting for religion in international conflict resolution.
Phenomenal Sydney

Mining Gold and Manufacturing Ignorance
This open access book charts how South Africa’s gold mines have systematically suppressed evidence of hazardous work practices and the risks associated with mining. For most of the twentieth century, South Africa was the world’s largest producer of gold. Although the country enjoyed a reputation for leading the world in occupational health legislation, the mining companies developed a system of medical surveillance and workers’ compensation which compromised the health of black gold miners, facilitated the spread of tuberculosis, and ravaged the communities and economies of labour-sending states. The culmination of two decades of meticulous archival research, this book exposes the making, contesting, and unravelling of the companies’ capacity to shape – and corrupt – medical knowledge.
