Designing and Building with UHPFRC
This book contains the proceedings of the international workshop “Designing and Building with Ultra-High Performance Fibre-Reinforced Concrete (UHPFRC): State of the Art and Development”, organized by AFGC, the French Association for Civil Engineering and French branch of fib, in Marseille (France), November 17-18, 2009. This workshop was focused on the experience of a lot of recent UHPFRC realizations. Through more than 50 papers, this book details the experience of many countries in UHPFRC construction and design, including projects from Japan, Germany, Australia, Austria, USA, Denmark, the Netherlands, Canada... and France. The projects are categorized as novel architectural solutions, new frontiers for bridges, new equipments and structural components, and extending the service life of structures. The last part presents major research results, durability and sustainability aspects, and the updated AFGC Recommendations on UHPFRC.

Ansätze für eine ökonomische Analyse des Subsidiaritätsprinzips des EG Art. 5 Abs. 2
Das Subsidiaritätsprinzip des EG Art. 5 Abs. 2 wird mit Hilfe des ökonomischen Instrumentariums der ökonomischen Analyse des Rechts mit dem Ziel untersucht, zu einer Konkretisierung zu gelangen, die der juristischen Anwendung dieser Norm als Kompetenzbegrenzungsregel dient. Es soll ein Modell für eine ökonomische Analyse der Kompetenzausübung entwickelt werden. Hierzu entwirft Ulrich Böttger einen komplexen interdisziplinären Ansatz, eine positive Ökonomik im Rahmen der (neuen) Institutionenökonomik. Das Modell wird aus einer Synthese von Property-Rights-Ansatz und Transaktionskostentheorie im Subsidiaritätsprinzip entwickelt. Der Autor arbeitet die Schwächen und offenen Fragen, insbesondere die Unbestimmtheit des Subsidiaritätsprinzips, heraus.Die FuE, insbesondere die Förderung der angewandten Forschung der EG, besteht den Subsidiaritätstest nicht.
Structure Design and Degradation Mechanisms in Coastal Environments
This book provide a series of designs, materials, characterization and modeling, that will help create safer and stronger structures in coastal areas. The authors take a look at the different materials (porous, heterogeneous, concrete...), the moisture transfers in construction materials as well as the degradation caused by external attacks and put forth systems to monitor the structures or evaluate the performance reliability as well as degradation scenarios of coastal protection systems.
