Together the Freer Gallery of Art and the Arthur M. Sackler Gallery at the Smithsonian Institution form the national museum of Asian art for the U.S. Featuring those gift and purchases honoring the 10th anniversary of the Sackler and the 75th anniversary of the Freer, this sumptuously illustrated volume traces not only the evolution of this country's perception of Asia, but also the evolution of the museum and its role.
