Thomas Kneubühler: Alpine Signals
"Alpine Signals" is an unusual portrait of the Alps, based on twentysix cell towers in the Engadin, a high valley in the south east part of Switzerland. The artist Thomas Kneubühler challenges the romantic image of the Alps with the non-lieux of the mountain world, and goes to places that are usually not a destination. "Alpine Signals" touches on important issues, such as our relationship with nature and landscape asking: how much data do we need, even in the remote mountain world? The photographs are accompanied by two texts. The author Romana Ganzoni, who lives in the Engadin, invites us on a breathtaking antenna hike, and debunks a number of Alpine clichés in the process. The Canadian writer Rebecca Duclos visits the Alps in a dream. In her hybrid text, she reflects on the paradox of images and encounters which are at once sublime and banal.

Oder an den Vater, der tanzen konnte wie ein Gott, wenn er »Öl am Hut« hatte, und noch eine Rechnung offen hat, in Granada.
The Working Drawing
"Large-size working drawings are an elementary means in the architectural process and the actual construction of a building. Yet very little has been written and published about the architect's quintessential tool. This new book aims to close this gap. It draws on a vast collection of working drawings from many centuries held by the Department of Architecture at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH Zurich). The collection, put together and categorized under the direction of Annette Spiro, comprises plans for a wide range of architectural tasks and features manifold representational techniques. The book presents around 100 of the collection's highlights from five centuries, arranged by category for direct comparison. All plans are depicted entirely in color on large-size spreads and fold-outs. Full catalog details and a detail in true size are provided for each drawing.
