Foundations of Modern EPR

Since its inception 50 years ago, electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR, also called ESR or EMR) has become a major tool in diverse fields ranging from biology and chemistry to solid state physics and materials science. This important book includes personal descriptions of early experiments by pioneers who laid the foundations for the field, perspectives on the state of the art, and glimpses of future opportunities. It presents a broad view of the foundations of EPR and its applications, and will therefore appeal to scientists in many fields. Even the expert will find here history not previously recorded and provocative views of future directions.

"Close Your Eyes is a frenzied reworking of the accumulated archive of photographer Gareth McConnell. An onslaught of kaleidoscopic imagery fuses portraits he took of rave-goers in Ibiza with hyper real, vivid scenes of the sun rising as the night bleeds into the morning. We see bleached out crowds appearing like faceless spectres dancing en mass, and figures bursting into light as if in symbolic emancipation. Punctuating the book are various examples of paraphernalia found by McConnell relating to the Zen mystic Osho, who gained an international following and whose people are said to have experimented with Ecstasy and taken it into clubs in Ibiza for the first time. Other found imagery in the book references a number of key moments in recent British history from the Battle of the Beanfield to the London Riots of 2011"--publisher's website.

Tomorrow's Man

Tiré du site de l'éditeur: "Tomorrow's Man 3 amplifies the work of just four artists. Richard Tinkler's delicate geometric abstractions are highlighted once again, working in concert with Pierson's recent series of figure studies ; activist text works by Peter Fend that cry out for environmental justice ; and a short story by Veralyn Behenna entitled "The Flavor of Your Wish" in which an expatriate woman contemplates masculine beauty in a Grecian taverna. This is the first time Tomorrow's Man has included previously unpublished work by Pierson." -- Publisher's web site (view 28 March 2016).

"Paul Graham’s Does Yellow Run Forever? comprises a series of photographs touching upon the ephemeral question of what we seek and value in life--love, wealth, beauty, clear-eyed reality or an inner dream world? The work weaves in and out of three groups of images: photographs of rainbows from Western Ireland, a sleeping dreamer, and gold stores in the United States. The imagery leads us from reality to dream and illusion, between fact and spectral phenomena, each entwined one within the other"--Publisher’s Web site.
