Addressing important extensions of the relational database model, including deductive, temporal, and object-oriented databases, this book provides an overview of database modeling with the Entity-Relationship (ER) model and the relational model. The book focuses on the primary achievements in relational database theory, including query languages, integrity constraints, database design, computable queries, and concurrency control. This reference will shed light on the ideas underlying relational database systems and the problems that confront database designers and researchers.
This book is about conformal prediction, an approach to prediction that originated in machine learning in the late 1990s. The main feature of conformal prediction is the principled treatment of the reliability of predictions. The prediction algorithms described — conformal predictors — are provably valid in the sense that they evaluate the reliability of their own predictions in a way that is neither over-pessimistic nor over-optimistic (the latter being especially dangerous). The approach is still flexible enough to incorporate most of the existing powerful methods of machine learning. The book covers both key conformal predictors and the mathematical analysis of their properties. Algor...
The 2015 edition of The Global Community: Yearbook of International Law and Jurisprudence constitutes the only thorough annual survey of major developments in international courts. General Editor Giuliana Ziccardi Capaldo selects excerpts from important court opinions as well as the contributors who provide expert guidance on those cases. The topical organization and subject index make the thorough, comprehensive content easy to navigate.
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the Second International Conference on Graph Transformation, ICGT 2004, held in Rome, Italy, in September/October 2004. The 26 revised full papers presented together with three invited contributions and summaries of 2 tutorials and 5 workshops were carefully reviewed and selected from 58 submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on integration technology, chemistry and biology, graph transformation concepts, DPO theory for high-level structures, analysis and testing, graph theory and algorithms, application conditions and logic, transformation of special structures, and object-orientation.
This book presents a coherent suvey on exciting developments in database semantics. The origins of the volume date back to a workshop held in Prague, Czech Republic, in 1995. The nine revised full papers and surveys presented were carefully reviewed for inclusion in the book. They address more traditional aspects like dealing with integrity constraints and conceptual modeling as well as new areas of databases; object-orientation, incomplete information, database transformations and other issues are investigated by applying formal semantics, e.g. the evolving algebra semantics.
Covers the latest research in areas such as theoretical foundations, constraints, concurrency and parallelism, deductive databases, language design and implementation, non-monotonic reasoning, and logicprogramming and the Internet. 8-12 July 1997, Leuven, Belgium The International Conference on Logic Programming is the main annual conference sponsored by the Association for Logic Programming. It covers the latest research in areas such as theoretical foundations, constraints, concurrency and parallelism, deductive databases, language design and implementation, non-monotonic reasoning, and logic programming and the Internet.
If you are new to Access 2000 or already use an alternative database application and you want to switch to Access 2000 this book gives you all the essential information you need using lots of examples. Topics covered in this book include: - How to use the Access interface - How to use Access objects to create a simple database - How to use built in functions - How to create tables - How to create forms - How to create queries to select and update data - How to create reports - How to create macros - How to use object events and create procedures Essential Access 2000 fast is designed for professionals or students who need to learn the maximum in the minimum time and to develop databases fast.
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 8th International Conference on Database Theory, ICDT 2001, held in London, UK, in January 2001. The 26 revised full papers presented together with two invited papers were carefully reviewed and selected from 75 submissions. All current issues on database theory and the foundations of database systems are addressed. Among the topics covered are database queries, SQL, information retrieval, database logic, database mining, constraint databases, transactions, algorithmic aspects, semi-structured data, data engineering, XML, term rewriting, clustering, etc.
FSpaceRPG is a science fiction roleplaying game in the classic mould. In the late 22nd century mankind expands into the the stars only to find them in more turmoil than it's own internal nationalism. Pitted against the onslaught of the expansion of the Stotatl Empire, humanity must defend itself while forging alliances with others who face absorption. Whether you're a Terran soldier or an Aronhi Warrior from the partially conquered Aronhi Empire, one goal stands supreme above all, survival. The wits and courage to stand and fight against superior odds and create victories from difficult situations. But not all the glory lies in the hands of warriors. Exploration of the vast wilderness that i...
