A Proud Legacy of Leadership Through Timeless Service

Epsilon Phi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, has a long and distinguished history of which we are very proud. From its inception to present day, this chapter has provided service to all mankind in an exemplary and noteworthy manner. This is not only reflected in various awards and accolades bestowed upon the membership, but also through its longevity and growth in membership. Furthermore, the tremendous impact this chapter has had in diverse sectors of the community also emphasizes the outstanding works of this chapter. This distinct history will be chronicled through reflective summaries of the chartering of Epsilon Phi Omega and national, regional, and local programs. In addition, there are highlights of chapter membership, celebrations, community outreach, and awards. These narratives begin with notable events during the administration of the chapter's first basileus, Velma Daye. Through her leadership Epsilon Phi Omega was chartered. The history will also include a recapping of current initiatives carried out under the leadership of Dr. Tesha Isler.

Amazing But True Bird Tales

With estimates by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service that over 60 million Americans are birdwatchers-it's the fastest growing outdoor hobby-books on birds have a ready audience. Allan Zullo's newest book, Amazing but True Bird Tales, documents nearly 200 outrageous shenanigans and surprising feats performed by our feathered friends. For example, the mockingbird who snuck into a conservatory evading the staff for two weeks while he dined on over $1,000 worth of rare butterflies. Or the very social chicken who received a lifetime achievement award from the ASPCA for her work with senior citizens and traumatized children. And the humorous account of the fractious parrot who constantly mimicked the sound of a circular saw. Drawn from factual accounts from the Audubon Society, news accounts from the United States and the United Kingdom, and numerous Web sites, each story further convinces us that these birds aren't birdbrains at all. Zullo's true tales will be irresistible to any birder whether it's the up-before-dawn-binoculars-in-hand fanatic to the person who occasionally throws out their morning toast to enjoy watching the birds gobble it up.

Earth was finally entering the galaxy... The 'Allies' had arrived, sweeping down from the stars to offer a jaded Earth the marvels of the cosmos. And Earth had gone crazy. Farmers sat back to wait for Vita Flakes to fall from the sky. New York City drank itself into a permanent starstruck stupor. Blissed-out teenagers wandered into the Great Mexican Defoliation Desert to wait for the New Gods to bear them off to the astral plane... But the 'Allies' weren't in the business of trading something for nothing. This impertinent little marketworld might fetch a nice price on the interstellar auction block... particularly if a runaway wondergirl named Golden Vanity was tossed into the bargain!
