Local Government Boundary Commission for England : Corporate plan 2010-11 To 2014-15
The main tasks of the Local Government Commission for England are to examine the structure of local government in the English shire counties, and to make recommendations on the future structure, boundaries and electoral arrangements of local authorities. This report sets out the Commission's draft recommendations with a view to hearing local reactions from the people of Dorset. Recommendations include the proposal that three new unitary local authorities be established to replace the present two-tier structure of county and district councils. Another discussion is also included for an alternative structure of four unitary authorities which the Commission considers viable.
