Megyik János

Working in a realm that is defined by the overlapping fields of painting, sculpture and architecture, János Megyik (1938, Szolnok) has built an œuvre that concentrates on modelling the structure of the panel painting. In his experiments the artist proposes a spatiality that is also a distinctive mark of architecture and sculpture. This œuvre exhibition seeks to reveal how in his world the panel painting comes to life as a spatial model and a three-dimensional object. This impressive display, which selects from Megyik's output from the early 1960s to the present, features drawings, larch stick constructs, photograms, the steel plates of the latest period, as well as the artist's architectural activity, in an attempt to capture the essence of the œuvre.

In June 2018 the Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza will be presenting a monographic exhibition devoted to Victor Vasarely (Pécs, 1906 - Paris, 1997), one of the principal exponents of Op Art. Comprising works from the Vasarely Museum in Budapest, the Victor Vasarely Museum in Pécs, the Fondation Vasarely in Aix-en- Provence and prominent loans from private collections, the exhibition will aim to offer an overall vision of the life and work of this Hungarian painter whose best output was created in France. The exhibition includes works from all the principal phases of Vasarely's career in order to present a chronological survey of his artistic evolution. Visitors will thus be able to appreciate the key role played by the artist in the development of geometrical post-war abstraction and to learn about the experiments based on his artistic principles and theoretical reflections which he undertook with the aim of bringing art and society closer together.--Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza website.

Amino Acids, Peptides and Proteins

Amino Acids, Peptides and Proteins comprises a comprehensive review of significant developments at this biology/chemistry interface. Each volume of this Specialist Periodical Report opens with an overview of amino acids and their applications. Work on peptides is reviewed over several chapters, ranging from current trends in their synthesis and conformational and structural analysis, to peptidomimetics and the discovery of peptide-related molecules in nature. The application of advanced techniques in structural elucidation is incorporated into all chapters, whilst periodic chapters on metal complexes of amino acids, peptides and beta-lactams extend the scope of coverage. Amino Acids, Peptides and Proteins

In an ever-increasing domain of activity, Amino Acids, Peptides and Proteins provides an annual compilation of the world's research effort into this important area of biological chemistry. Comprising a comprehensive review of significant developments at this biology/chemistry interface, each volume opens with an overview of amino acids and their applications. Efficient searching of specialist topics is facilitated by the sub-division of chapters into discrete subject areas, allowing annual trends to be monitored. All researchers in the pharmaceutical and allied industries, and at the biology/chemistry interface in academia will find this an indispensable reference source. Volume 36 covers literature published during 2003.
