Cattle and People
This volume originates in a conference session that took place at the 2018 International Council of Archaeozoology conference in Ankara, Turkey, entitled "Humans and Cattle: Interdisciplinary Perspectives to an Ancient Relationship." The aim of the session was to bring together zooarchaeologists and their colleagues from various other research fields working on human cattle interactions over time. The contributions in this volume reflect well the breadth of work being undertaken on the ancient relationship between humans and cattle across the continents of Europe, Africa and Asia, and from the late Pleistocene to postmedieval period. Almost all involve the study of archaeological cattle remains and use different zooarchaeological methods, but the combination of these approaches with that of ethnography, isotopes and genetics is also featured. Villajoyosa antique (Alicante, Espagne)
L'objet de ce livre est de présenter le développement d'une cité antique, située à 30 km au nord d'Alicante, occupée de l'époque orientalisante à l'empire romain. Une équipe franco-espagnole a mobilisé pour cela les cartes anciennes, les cadastres, les photographies aériennes, les résultats de dizaines d'opérations d'archéologie préventive et a conduit la fouille sur le cap de la Malladeta, à la frontière méridionale du territoire de la cité, qui a fonctionné du ive siècle av. J.-C. jusqu'à la municipalisation de la cité vers 70 ap. J.-C. Sont étudiés ici les rituels, en particulier les nombreuses offrandes de brûle-parfums en terre cuite, les pebeteros, conservés dans un ensemble bâti dont l'organisation ne peut être identifiée à celle d'un habitat et s'apparente davantage à celle d'un sanctuaire. L'analyse du mobilier permet en outre de relever combien cette cité maritime consommait des produits variés : de la vaisselle grecque ou italique et une grande variété de vaisselles de types puniques.
