Characterization and Determination of Erosion Resistance
This report seeks to offer a best current assessment of the several elevated temperature properties that commonly form the basis for establishing allowable stresses or design stress intensity values. The results are presented in a form readily usable for that purpose. The data that are evaluated are those that have become available since the publication in 1955 of ASTM Data Series Publication DS 11 (formerly STP No. 180), Elevated Temperature Properties of Carbon Steels, as well as selected data from that earlier publication. The body of the report provides, in text, tables and figures, details concerning the materials, the evaluation procedures that were employed, and the results.
Computational Science and High Performance Computing IV
This volume contains 27 contributions to the Forth Russian-German Advanced Research Workshop on Computational Science and High Performance Computing presented in October 2009 in Freiburg, Germany. The workshop was organized jointly by the High Performance Computing Center Stuttgart (HLRS), the Institute of Computational Technologies of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (ICT SB RAS) and the Section of Applied Mathematics of the University of Freiburg (IAM Freiburg) The contributions range from computer science, mathematics and high performance computing to applications in mechanical and aerospace engineering. They show a wealth of theoretical work and simulation experience with a potential of bringing together theoretical mathematical modelling and usage of high performance computing systems presenting the state of the art of computational technologies.
ADIGMA – A European Initiative on the Development of Adaptive Higher-Order Variational Methods for Aerospace Applications
This volume contains results gained from the EU-funded 6th Framework project ADIGMA (Adaptive Higher-order Variational Methods for Aerodynamic Applications in Industry). The goal of ADIGMA was the development and utilization of innovative adaptive higher-order methods for the compressible flow equations enabling reliable, mesh independent numerical solutions for large-scale aerodynamic applications in aircraft industry. The ADIGMA consortium was comprised of 22 organizations which included the main European aircraft manufacturers, the major European research establishments and several universities, all with well proven expertise in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). The book presents an introduction to the project, exhibits partners’ methods and approaches and provides a critical assessment of the newly developed methods for industrial aerodynamic applications. The best numerical strategies for integration as major building blocks for the next generation of industrial flow solvers are identified.

Social Services between General Interest Orientation and Internal Market Dynamics
The thesis analyses the EU-level policy process on "Social Services of General Interest" over more than a decade. The author identifies the factors that can explain the development and state of play of the EU-level legal, policy and quality frameworks at the end of 2016. He elaborates on relevant theories, concepts and political discourses and looks into the role and initiatives of the EU Member States and the European Commission as the key policymakers. The thesis analyses the reasons and implications for the organisation, provision and financing of social services that stem from the overarching or recalibration of national policy arenas and scopes by the internal market and the EU policy context.
