This is the story of Mabel Fable who was an orphan and adopted by the Fable family. It traces her life from the time she was four to fifty-years-old. Gable Fable, her father, was employed by Ford Motor Car Company in the River Rouge Plant in Dearborn and moved to Whittier, California to escape the deterioration of the Detroit environs.
