Heirs to World Culture
This volume brings together new scholarship by Indonesian and non-Indonesian scholars on Indonesia’s cultural history from 1950-1965. During the new nation’s first decade and a half, Indonesia’s links with the world and its sense of nationhood were vigorously negotiated on the cultural front. Indonesia used cultural networks of the time, including those of the Cold War, to announce itself on the world stage. International links, post-colonial aspirations and nationalistic fervour interacted to produce a thriving cultural and intellectual life at home. Essays discuss the exchange of artists, intellectuals, writing and ideas between Indonesia and various countries; the development of cultural networks; and ways these networks interacted with and influenced cultural expression and discourse in Indonesia. Indonesia bukanlah pahatan gagasan berwajah tunggal. Ia adalah sebuah pembayangan bersama yang ditopang dari ide yang beragam. Ide atau pikiran yang kemudian bermetamorfosis menjadi ideologi praksis pergerakan sedemikian rupa itu berdialog dan mencari titik kompromi yang terkadang muskil. Sebagai sebuah panggung, Indonesia adalah persembahan panjang tentang pencarian kebenaran lewat jalan perdebatan dan inovasi. Ide-ide dipertemukan untuk mencari formula, bukan saja bentuk negara, melainkan juga bagaimana mempertemukan keragaman ide dari tuturan bahasa yang berbeda-beda se-Nusantara menjadi sukma ‘persatuan nasional’. The theme of the conference is "Reconstructing Morals, Education, and Social Sciences for Achieving Sustainable Development Goals". This theme was formulated due to several considerations. First, the symptoms of moral decline that have the potential to destroy the nation. Morals guide humanity towards truth and civilization. The phenomenon of the dehumanization process in the industrial era that pushed people to be part of abstract societies tends to ignore humanity. The education process as a humanitarian system is increasingly marginalized, especially during discussions about the industrial revolution 4.0 and Society 5.0. The conference placed six sub-themes for speakers and participants to share ideas, namely: Social Sciences and Laws, History and Cultural Studies, Interdisciplinary Studies, Morals and Humanities, Policy, Politics, and Communication, Education. The committee has received 195 abstracts from prospective speakers. However, there are only 80 abstracts that are eligible to be presented at this conference.

Indisch Lexicon
In het Indisch Lexicon zijn bijna 19.000 Indische woorden en begrippen, zoals ze in de Nederlandse taal vanaf ongeveer 1600 gebruikt zijn, vastgelegd, omschreven en in hun context geplaatst. Van ieder woord is de betekenis gegeven op basis van reeds bestaande Indonesische, Maleise, Javaanse, Soendanese en Nederlandse woordenboeken. Niet alleen enkelvoudige woorden maar ook samenstellingen en spellingsvarianten zijn opgenomen, met citaten uit de bron waarin het betreffende woord voorkomt. Dit lexicon is een belangrijk naslagwerk om de Indische woorden en uitdrukkingen die langzaam uit ons collectieve geheugen verdwijnen, vast te houden, weer tot leven te wekken en te verklaren binnen hun semantische en culturele context.
