Zum anderen stellt das Lehrbuch zentrale Friedensstrategien vor, die für verschiedene Denkschulen stehen, und debattiert ihre Chancen und Hindernisse.

To cope with the problems of today's world, we need to enter into a dialogue regardless of political, religious and philosophical beliefs - a transversal dialogue as Pope Francis called for in the private audience, he gave to Alexis Tsipras, Walter Baier and Franz Kronreif in September 2014. This conversation resulted in the DIALOP initiative - a transversal dialogue between Socialists and Christians. Since then, a network of universities and NGOs have been exploring paths of what they call a transversal social ethics. In this book authors from Austria, Belgium, Colombia, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Portugal and the Vatican air their views on topics like social equality, European Unity, democracy, the commons and ecology.
Protecting People - and Losing Just Peace?
Taking up the international ecumenical debate on 'just peace' and the international responsibility to protect, this volume discusses the relation between the two concepts. It examines such questions as: How does responsibility to protect influence the paradigm of just peace? How can the core idea of prevention be implemented in view of real needs to protect? Can criteria be developed to reflect just peace as a model for Christian peace ethics? Can these criteria also include military intervention as a last resort? Public Control of Armed Forces in the Russian Federation
The volume deals with the fundamentals of the contemporary relations between civic actors and state power structures. The main focus lies on public control of armed forces and the question of why civilians should have a vigilant eye on the military institution as well as the civilian authority that legitimizes the use of force. Based on the example of conscription and recruitment as an intersection between the military and society, this study engages in an analysis of institutional change in the politico-military field in post-Soviet Russia. Taking a critical stance on conventional military sociology, the book shifts the focus away from the exclusive power relationship between political and military elites in the context of national security. Instead, it takes into consideration human and societal security, i.e. the needs and demands of individuals and groups at the grassroots level, affected by the military and the prevailing security situation in Russia. The book addresses readers with an interest in civil-military relations, contemporary Russian affairs, and social movement theories.
