Facing Global Environmental Change

The year 2007 could perhaps accurately be described as the year when climate change finally received the attention that this challenge deserves globally. Much of the information and knowledge that was created in this field during the year was the result of the findings of the Fourth - sessment Report (AR4) of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which were disseminated on a large scale and reported extensively by the media. This was the result not only of a heightened interest on the part of the public on various aspects of climate change, but also because the IPCC itself proactively attempted to spread the findings of its AR4 to the public at large. The interest generated on the scientific realities of climate change was further enhanced by the award of the Nobel Peace Prize to the IPCC and former Vice President of the US, Al Gore. By taking this decision in favour of a leader who has done a great deal to create awareness on c- mate change, and a body that assesses all scientific aspects of climate change and disseminates the result of its findings, the Norwegian Nobel Committee has clearly drawn the link between climate change and peace in the world.

Vampire Elite

A millennia-long war between two immortal races is about to come to an end. Long ago, the Vampire Elite began capturing the immortals called the Amiti, attracted by their unique blood properties. Now most Amiti live in underground cells, forced to serve as vampires’ bloodstock. The few surviving free Amiti, preparing a final strike, have declared the Amiti Queen a traitor. Her execution makes possible the rise of a new Queen, her young daughter Arianna, who will inherit her mother’s mystical powers. Working with the Keepers of the Key, Arianna may be able to eliminate the vampires, once and for all, from the face of the earth. The new Queen is the last hope to save her dying race, and she’s ready to fight to the last drop of her blood. But the King of the Vampires has other plans. What neither expects is the passion that erupts between them.

Science With The New Generation Of High Energy Gamma-ray Experiments: The Variable Gamma-ray Sources: Their Identifications And Counterparts - Proceedings Of The Fourth Workshop

The research program in gamma-ray astronomy focuses on increasing our knowledge of the nature and origin of galactic and extragalactic gamma rays, and understanding high-energy processes in the Sun, celestial objects, interstellar medium, and extragalactic space. This book not only provides an overview of the latest research and future plans for space-borne and ground-based experiments dedicated to the observation of the gamma-ray sky, but also addresses the topic of variable gamma-ray sources from the perspective of their identification and counterparts at different wavelengths. It further gives an overview of the theory related to the most qualified emission processes that take place in these sources and of the nature of their variability.

Rahab was not the only sinner on the face of the earth; neither is she the last sinner! She happens to be one of the sinners that decided to do something about her sinful condition. Rahab goes from rags to riches...from the street into the Hall of Fame. Yes, her name is recorded in the Book of Hebrews 11:31! Some important people of God came to visit the city of Jericho where Rahab lived. But these people were not ordinary people. They had strange customs. They served One God. Their god was powerful and did things that no other deity could do. In fact, their God is God! Before we can talk about Rahab, we must understand the progression of mankind: sin; the flood; Noah; the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; Moses; Joshua; the children of Israel; their wilderness travels; the land of Canaan; then, the city of Jericho. Come and go with me...
