He'll protect her...whether she likes it or not. Riona Griffin is gorgeous, intelligent, and iron-willed, determined to carve her name in the family ledger without a man at her side. But when she barely survives an unexpected attack on her life, her family hires Raylan Boone as her bodyguard--a rancher, a soldier, and a southern boy with plenty of charm to burn. And Riona hates his guts. She doesn't think she needs anybody, but Raylan is pretty sure she needs him. After all, she's being hunted by an assassin who never misses his mark. To keep her safe, Raylan will have to stay by her side, day and night, for the foreseeable future. Riona might think that's a fate worse than death, but once they're alone on Raylan's family ranch, the chemistry between them comes to a boil--and everything changes. Raylan knows Riona could learn to love him. But he'll have to keep her alive first. And this hitman isn't getting his girl without a fight.

Ivan Ramen

In 2007, Ivan Orkin, a middle-aged Jewish guy from Long Island, did something crazy. In the food-zealous, insular megalopolis of Tokyo, Ivan opened a ramen shop. He was a gaijin (foreigner), trying to make his name in a place that is fiercely opinionated about ramen. At first, customers came because they were curious, but word spread quickly about Ivan's handmade noodles, clean and complex broth, and thoughtfully prepared toppings. Soon enough, Ivan became a celebrity – a fixture of Japanese TV programmes and the face of his own best-selling brand of instant ramen. Ivan opened a second location in Tokyo and has returned to New York City to open two US branches. Ivan Ramen is essentially tw...

Advances in formal Slavic linguistics 2017

Advances in Formal Slavic Linguistics 2017 is a collection of fifteen articles that were prepared on the basis of talks given at the conference Formal Description of Slavic Languages 12.5, which was held on December 7-9, 2017, at the University of Nova Gorica. The volume covers a wide array of topics, such as control verbs, instrumental arguments, and perduratives in Russian, comparatives, negation, n-words, negative polarity items, and complementizer ellipsis in Czech, impersonal se-constructions and complementizer doubling in Slovenian, prosody and the morphology of multi-purpose suffixes in Serbo-Croatian, and indefinite numerals and the binding properties of dative arguments in Polish. Importantly, by exploring these phenomena in individual Slavic languages, the collection of articles in this volume makes a significant contribution to both Slavic linguistics and to linguistics in general.

Nephilim

An Summary of Nephilim: Genesis By David Lucero The novel Nephilim: Genesis cannot be easily summarized. It's a book about friendship, faith, destiny, and discovery. But it is so much more than that as well. Of course, there are main characters. Villains, heroes, supporting characters, those are the usual items found in a fiction book. There is a plot, of course, and tons of inspirations. But to break down the novel would not do it justice. To say that Alexander Luciano is the main character is just putting him into a role that he doesn't fit easily into. A square peg in a round hole, so to speak. The Nephilim themselves are not easily described either. If you take the literal translations o...

For the SEAC conference in Graz (2018) and for the Proceedings the motto "Harmony and symmetry - celestial regularities shaping human culture" was chosen. There were at least two strong reasons for this motto: First, the connection between astronomy and human culture has an extremely long tradition, and one of its absolute high points is the astronomer Johannes Kepler, who spent his entire life searching for the relationship between the movement of heavenly lights and ideas about harmonious structures and regular bodies. Kepler started his scientific career and authored his first book, the Mysterium cosmographicum, in Graz. Kepler argued in his first publication for the twelve-fold partition...

The Zodiak Assassins

A high-flying executive and single mother of an autistic son leaves her career behind to embark on a transformative journey. Seeking a simpler life, she moves to a quaint village in Crete, where she joins the Animal Welfare movement, a cause close to her heart. Yet she soon finds that attitudes toward animals in her new home are more complex than she expected. European vets make periodic visits, attempting to control the burgeoning population of ownerless animals. As her son discovers a newfound passion for their cause, they adopt a dog once trained for fighting. But life in Greece takes a darker turn when the far-right party, ‘The Golden Dawn,’ rises to power. The government harnesses an experimental ‘Superdog’ program, envisioning dogs not just as pets but as the new workforce, replacing human salaries. However, the unintended consequences of tampering with animal DNA pose a grave threat to the world at large. As the situation spirals out of control, it’s the mother and son who find themselves at the heart of this unfolding crisis, and it’s her autistic son who emerges as an unexpected beacon of hope.
