Leven met een fobie
Zo'n acht procent van de totale bevolking krijgt in de loop van het leven met een fobie te maken. Het gaat dan om een extreme angst voor bijvoorbeeld een bepaald dier, een natuurverschijnsel, kleine ruimten of manieren van reizen. Ook een buitensporige angst voor medische situaties, slikken, braken, het horen van harde knallen en een angst voor (en afkeer van) bepaalde etenswaren behoren tot de (specifieke) fobieën. Ze veroorzaken veel leed en dienen serieus te worden genomen, ook al reageert de omgeving vaak met onbegrip en plagerijen. In 'Leven met een fobie' komen de oorzaken, behandelmogelijkheden en zelfhulptechnieken voor (specifieke) fobieën uitgebreid aan de orde. Op heldere wijze beschrijft de auteur de kennis over (specifieke) fobieën die er op dit moment is.
