Muslim and Christian Contact in the Middle Ages
To study the interactions between Muslims and Christians in the medieval period is to observe a history of conflict and co-existence encompassing warfare, piracy, and raiding as well as commerce, intellectual exchanges, and personal relationships that transcended religious differences. With particular focus on the Mediterranean world, this collection of more than 80 readings includes sources from Byzantine, Jewish, Muslim, and Latin Christian authors that explore the conflicts and contacts between Muslims and Christians from the seventh to the fifteenth century. Jarbel Rodriguez has selected geographically diverse readings and multiple sources on the same event or topic so that readers gain a better understanding of the relationship that existed between Muslims and Christians in the Middle Ages.

Reliable Creed for a Community in Need --Pocketbook (English & Arabic) is a rhyming English translation of Imam Tahawi's famous formulation of orthodox Islamic theology. Abu Jafar Ahmad b. Muhammad al-Tahawi's (d. 933) text on creed is the most widely accepted exposition of the beliefs of Ahl al-Sunnah wa'l-Jama`ah, or Sunni Islam. Students pursuing a traditional curriculum in Islamic sciences begin by studying short primer texts that introduce three foundational subjects: theology (`aqidah), essentials of individual religions practice (fiqh) within the guidelines of a recognized school of jurisprudence (madhhab), and spiritual refinement (tasawwuf). To facilitate the learning process, those texts have often been adapted to rhyme, which makes them easier to commit to memory. This book is designed to aid students in memorizing the concepts expressed in Imam Tahawi's classic manual of orthodox Sunni belief in English. The English translation is accompanied by the Arabic text by Tahawi on facing pages.

Nezami Ganjavi and Classical Persian Literature
This book offers new insights into the twelfth-century Persian poet Nezami Ganjavi. Challenging the dominant interpretation of Nezami’s poetry as the product of mysticism or Islam, this book explores Nezami’s literary techniques such as his pictorial allegory and his profound conceptualization of poetry, rhetoric, and eloquence. It employs several theoretical and methodological approaches to clarify the nature of his artistic approach to poetry. Chapters explore Nezami’s understanding of rhetoric and literature as Sakhon, his interest in literary genres, the diversity of themes explored in his Five Treasures, the sources of Nezami’s creativity, and his literary devices. Exploring themes such as love, religion, science, wine, gender, and philosophy, this study compares Nezami’s works to other giants of Persian poetry such as Ferdowsi, Jami, Rudaki, and others. The book argues that Nezami’s main concern was to weave poetry rather than to promote any specific ideology.

This Springer essential is a translation of the original German 1st edition COVID-19 und Psychologie by John G. Haas, published by Springer Fachmedien Wiesbaden GmbH, part of Springer Nature in 2020. The translation was done with the help of artificial intelligence (machine translation by the service DeepL.com). A subsequent human revision was done primarily in terms of content, so that the book will read stylistically different from a conventional translation. Springer Nature works continuously to further the development of tools for the production of books and on the related technologies to support the authors.
