Jake LaMotta is the one-time middleweight champion of the world who competed in more than a hundred professional fights. Forced as a youth to fight for money, LaMotta emerged to make boxing a profession. Fighting For Life remembers LaMotta and his matches against the legendary Sugar Ray Robinson. Still active in writing and film endeavors, LaMotta has remained in demand for sports autograph shows.

Raging Bull

Meet Jake La Motta: thief, rapist, killer. Raised in the Bronx slums, he fought on the streets, got sent to reform school, and served time in prison. Trusting no one, slugging everyone, he beat his wife, his best friends, even the mobsters who kept the title just out of reach. But the same forces that made him a criminal—fear, rage, jealousy, self-hate, guilt—combined with his drive and intelligence to make him a winner in the ring. At age twenty-seven, after eight years of fighting, he became Middleweight Champion of the World, a hero to thousands. Then, at the peak of success, he fell apart and began a swift, harrowing descent into nightmare. Raging Bull, the Bronx Bull's brutally candid memoir, tells it all—fights, jails, sex, money—surpassing, in hard-hitting prose, even the movie that immortalized it.

Jake La Motta Ring Gladiator

Jake La Motta - the Raging Bull of the ring was as wild, dangerous and unpredictable as his fighting namesake. Jake would attack, attack and attack again until someone was on the floor - and he was only down once in 106 violent fights. Raised in the slums of New York's Bronx he fought his way to the top and for years refused to co-operate with the Mob. Eventually he had to because he knew he deserved a title shot and throwing a fight was the only way to get it. Later he defied the Mob again by testifying against them. "I'm not scared of that scum" he snarled. Jake won the world middleweight title then lost it to Sugar Ray Robinson in the fight called the Valentine's Day massacre. Jake went his own way, went to jail, served time on a chain gang then re-invented himself as a Cabaret act. His life story 'Raging Bull' starring Robert De Niro is one of the best American films ever made. He lived the American Dream and took the beatings that went it. An amazing life - a stunning read not to be missed.

Nicknamed "The Bronx Bull" and "The Raging Bull", LaMotta was a rough fighter, who although not particularly a big puncher, would subject his opponents to vicious beatings in the ring. With use of constant stalking, brawling and inside fighting, he developed the reputation for being a 'bully', and is often referred to today as a swarmer and a slugger.

The story of Vikki LaMotta's life reads like a highlight reel from a television mini-series. Born into poverty. Raped at age fourteen. Pregnant and married at sixteen.
