This collection contains one account book kept by James Walker from 1823 until 1837. It contains primarily business accounts related to work on the farm but also includes purchases of items such as cloth and clothing for family members.
Includes "Address by Mr. Henry K. Frothingham, on behalf of the committee of Harvard Church" (p.[3]-4); "Letter from Rev. Dr. Osgood, Fairfield, Conn., August 12, 1874" (p.[6]-8); a few smaller contributions and various selections by Walker himself. Two photographs are mounted on blank leaves at the beginning of the item, showing the gifts chosen for Dr. Walker on this occasion (ornate and inscribed cup and plate designed and executed by Tiffany and Co., N.Y.), which are more fully discussed in "Remarks" (p. [14]-15).
With these: correspondence, 1945-1970, of Mr. and Mrs. Reginald F. Walker relating to James Walker, his drawings and paintings; and clippings concerning James Walker.
The Papers of James Walker touch upon his activities as a Unitarian minister and as President of Harvard University. These papers include letters, sermons, lecture materials, catalogues, and a poem.
