In June of 2015 Richard Matt, a double murderer, and David Sweat, a cop killer, escaped from Clinton Correctional Facility in mountainous upstate New York. National media, fascinated by the escape's resemblance to the one in The Shawshank Redemption, provided constant updates during their three weeks on the lam. I'm sure I followed the news reports closer than most. Richard Matt was my dad. I knew him but a short time, four years in total, yet his death compelled me to piece together the rest of his story through key figures in his life - including fellow escapee David Sweat, civilian accessory Joyce Mitchell and even my mom. We had spoken little of him over the years. My journey through his past, which included a final return trip to the infamous manhole in Dannemora, provided needed closure to a shocking episode of my life launched when I received word that He's Out!

Jacob Brunk I (d.1787) moved from Pennsylvania to Frederick (later Wash- ington) County, Maryland during or before 1760. Descendants lived in Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Arkansas, Illinois and elsewhere.
Kingsbury Hall
Joseph Kingsbury was born in 1600 in Boxford, Suffolk, England. He married Millicent Ames, daughter of Anthony Ames and Margery Pierce, in 1628. They emigrated in about 1631 and settled in Massachusetts. They had seven children. He died in 1676 in Dedham, Massachusetts. Ancestors, descendants and relatives lived mainly in England, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Vermont, New York, Maryland, Quebec, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico and California.

Escape from Dannemora
It was one of the biggest crime stories of the decade - two deadly killers, desperate and on the run. After months of planning, Ricky Matt and David Sweat cut, chopped, coerced, and connived their way out of a maximum-security prison in the wilderness of upstate New York and managed to elude police for three weeks, sending the region into lockdown and keeping the entire country on edge.
