Cicero, Paul and Seneca as Transformational Leaders in their Letter Writing
This commentary offers the reader a set of letters (or letter parts) written by Cicero, Paul, and Seneca, which have been selected against the Transformational Leadership categories of ‘idealised influence’, ‘inspirational motivation’, ‘intellectual stimulation’, and ‘individualised consideration’. Chapter 1 offers introduction into authors and theory: all three letter writers are considered as ancient leadership figures composing leadership letters. The letters selected are presented in original text facing a translation (Chapter 2). Chapter 3 provides analysis and discussion of each letter, and aims to introduce the reader to the historical and literary contexts before reading the letter through the lenses of Transformational Leadership theory. Chapter 4 sums up the findings on each letter and each letter writer in light of Transformational Leadership and its categories. The volume is aimed at all those who are studying the function of ancient letter-writing – especially the letters of Cicero, Paul, or Seneca.

Declarative Programming and Knowledge Management
This book constitutes revised selected papers from the 22nd International Conference on Applications of Declarative Programming and Knowledge Management, INAP 2019, the 33rd Workshop on Logic Programming, WLP 2019, and the 27th Workshop on Functional and (Constraint) Logic Programming, WFLP 2019. Space in Theodor Fontane's Works
The novels of Theodor Fontane (1819-1898), Germany's most important Realist, have long been appreciated for the symbolism of their represented worlds. In this study, Michael White examines the significance of space and spatial experience across Fontane's oeuvre, providing analyses of non-fiction prose and less well-known novels, alongside major works and poetry. The study reveals not only a complex and varied spatial symbolism, but also that space itself is a thematic concern in Fontane's writing. His texts portray human beings' relationships with their worlds, and how and to what end they invest their environment with meaning. Fontane's novels and travel writings emerge as profoundly reflexive discourses on art and its function for the individual. Michael J. White completed his Ph.D. at St Andrews and now teaches German at the Institut de la formation des maîtres, Université d'Artois.

"Das achtzehnte Jahrhundert" wurde 1977 als Mitteilungsblatt der "Deutschen Gesellschaft für die Erforschung des achtzehnten Jahrhunderts" (DGEJ) gegründet und erscheint seit 1987 als wissenschaftliche Zeitschrift. Die Zeitschrift erscheint halbjährlich und ist im Aufsatzteil im Wechsel aktuellen Themen gewidmet oder frei konzipiert. Im Rezensionsteil legt sie Wert auf aktuelle Besprechungen zu einem weit gefächerten Spektrum von thematisch repräsentativen und methodologisch aufschlussreichen Fachpublikationen. Entsprechend der interdisziplinären Ausrichtung der DGEJ enthält sie Beiträge aus allen Fachrichtungen.
