Some continued to play ball in the military. Others fought the Germans in the trenches, in the air and at sea. Several lost their lives in combat or to disease. A few became heroes. From future Hall of Famers to journeymen and unknowns, each did his duty.

What's the Story? April-May Issue

Basile headlines this month’s What’s the Story? with his Dysfunctionally Yours World Tour. One of his stops was Reno, Nevada. Most of us know someone with cancer, unfortunately. Dr. Forsythe was interviewed in Suzanne Somers book Knockout: Doctors Who Are Curing Cancer. Our friend Brian T. Shirley talks about the struggles with Promotion that many indie performers face. We also featured Danny Heisohm, a determined cancer survivor who was on What’s the Story? Radio Show recently. He has an event coming up in April, 2017. Regular contributor, Richard Pugh talks about the Mendacity of Advertising. No, that doesn’t happen, does it? John Loranger loves to read (and write too). He recently reviewed Wuthering Heights. Have you read it? Failed leadership is compared to the sinking of the Titanic in Greg Smith’s article this month. And Mike Aloia shares “Into Temptation”. As always, ENJOY!

The LeRue Review Holiday Issue 2013

Happy Holidays! We say Merry Christmas in our home and office, but we recognize that not everyone celebrates the same way. We hope whatever holiday you celebrate, you will enjoy it! With that said, we have a number of selections in our holiday issue. LeRue Press, in October, November and December is releasing a number of new titles. It kept us hopping these last few months. Don’t miss our backlist titles too. They are still as good as ever. We want to give thanks this holiday season to our veterans without whom we could not celebrate the freedom of the press and our many other freedoms in our world. We need to do our due diligence to keep those freedoms; Washington and power can get out of...

Johnson, Johnson and Roy

Steeped in a strong Midwestern tradition of naturalism, JJR embraces the tenets of respecting and working with the inherent natural features of a landscape. JJR's projects address the complex relationship between humans and their environment. It believes that good design goes hand-in-hand with good planning, a process that encompasses everything from civil engineering and landscape architecture to environmental science, urban planning and much more. The work of JJR responds to the local and regional context, blending the natural with the built, and the site with the community. More than forty projects are examined in detail in this superb monograph; projects include university campuses, sutainable environments, vital cities, building communities, and waterfront projects; all are presented with colour photography, maps, plans and drawings.

In November 1939, NBC's fledgling television station W2XBS broadcast the first known holiday special, The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Despite its small viewership (very few TV sets existed at the time), the experimental telecast was a harbinger of a now-beloved American tradition: the holiday television special. This book offers a thorough account of holiday television specials in the United States from 1939 to 2021, highlighting variety shows, comedic performances, musical spectaculars and more. From familiar favorites (1964's Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer) to campy one-offs (1985's He-Man and She-Ra: A Christmas Special), the 1140 programs are covered alphabetically and feature performance casts, production credits and storylines for each. Three appendices cover "lost" holiday specials, along with Christmas and Halloween-themed episodes of popular television series.
