This book is an introduction to the history of – and current measurement practice of – inflation for the United Kingdom. The authors describe the historical development of inflation measures in a global context, and do so without using formal mathematical language and related jargon that relates only to a few specialist scholars. Although inflation is a widely used and quoted statistic, and despite the important role inflation plays in real people’s lives – through pension uprating, train tickets, interest rates and the work of economists – few people understand how it is created. O’Neill, Ralph and Smith mix historical data with a description of practices inside the UK statistical system and abroad, which will aid understanding of how this important economic statistic is produced, and the important and controversial choices that statisticians have made over time.
Every family has its dysfunctional moments, right? Of course they do! First-time author Ron Stokes has compiled a collection of funny family stories and personal remembrances from the sixties and seventies that might just conjure up some of your own family "secrets." If so, the author assumes no liability for professional therapy needed as a result of uncovering these repressed memories. Enjoy!
Written in candid prose, Gibson takes the reader through his life and career that spans over 50 years. Gibson's story is a fascinating one, from his earliest memories growing up in California to his time in the navy and his continuous love affair with photography. Gibson's memories are time-capsules, filled with rich characters and period details. Often moving, the narratives of his at times troublesome childhood provide a rich background to the charismatic artist Gibson has become. His ruminations on his life so far display a deep, thoughtful understanding and self-awareness that make this book a fascinating read in itself as well as an illuminating companion to his work. Evocatively illustrated, Self Exposure presents Gibson's life story alongside his photographic work, all presented with high quality production values.

By bringing the plays together in this collection, Esther Kim Lee highlights the themes and styles that have enlivened Korean diasporic theater in the Americas since the 1990s. Some of the plays are set in urban Koreatowns. One takes place in the middle of Texas, while another unfolds entirely in a character's mind. Ethnic identity is not as central as it was in the work of previous generations of Asian diasporic playwrights.
In this gripping story, rookie detective William Tate tries to solve the murder of a young woman named Jessica Bennett, who lived in an upscale neighborhood with her husband Ralph Bennett in the Germantown section of Philadelphia, where the upper middle class and retirees reside. Neighbors haven't seen a crime like this since the late 1950s. As Detective Tate delves deeper into his investigation, he finds himself in a whirlwind of lies and corruption. He quickly grows suspicious of his partner, Jeffrey Barnes, who's a 20-year veteran of the 6th District homicide unit in Philadelphia. As the truth unfolds, tensions begin to rise between the two detectives, causing a secret tension between them. They say there are two sides to every story and then there's the truth. Detective Tate is determined to uncover the truth and bring Jessica's killer to justice.

The exhibition includes some of the artist's most well known works including Paris, Montparnasse (1993), an immense and iconic photograph showing a seemingly endless block of flats; and Rhine II (1999/2015) a sleek digitally-tweaked vision of the river as a contemporary minimalist symbol. Kamiokande (2007) featuring the vast underground water tank within the Kamioka Nucleon Decay Experiment, Japan; and May Day IV (2000/2014) depicting hundreds of revellers at Germany's long-running Mayday techno music festival. Often employing a bird's-eye perspective, these large-format pictures which rival the scale of monumental paintings boast an abundance of precisely captured details, all of which are uncannily in focus. Since the late 1980s, Gursky has depicted a broad spectrum of contemporary life including sites of commerce, industry and tourism across the globe, making pictures that draw attention to our changing relationship with the natural world and chronicle the effects of globalisation on day-to-day life.
