Perspectives on Aspect
This book offers both a retrospective view on how theories of aspectuality have developed over the past 30 years, and presents current, new directions of aspectuality research. The articles in this book take a wide crosslinguistic scope including aspectual analyses of the following languages: English and two varieties of English: African American English and Colloquial Singapore English, Italian, French, Bulgarian, Czech, Mandarin Chinese, West-Greenlandic, Wakashan languages, and Nahk-Daghestanian languages.
Mandarin Development of Indonesian Immigrants’ Children
This book summarizes the results a three-year longitudinal project on Mandarin development among children of Indonesian mothers, the second largest non-Mandarin speaking immigrant group in Taiwan. These children were acquiring their first language while interacting primarily with a non-native learner of the language. The book discusses phonological, lexical and syntactic development to provide a better understanding of the language development of the children of immigrants and has important implications for language education policy and language acquisition theories.

A Phonological Grammar of Kenyan Sign Language
This grammar of Kenyan Sign Language (KSL) phonology adds to a sparse literature on the units of categorical form in the world’s sign languages. At the same time, it brings descriptive and theoretical research on sign language phonology into better alignment by systematically evaluating current models of sign language phonology for each of the main parameters – handshape, location, and movement – against the KSL data.
