Machine Learning Assisted Digital Twin for Event Identification in Electrical Power System

Machine Learning Assisted Digital Twin for Event Identification in Electrical Power System

The challenges of stable operation in the electrical power system are increasing with the infrastructure shifting of the power grid from the centralized energy supply with fossil fuels towards sustainable energy generation. The predominantly RES plants, due to the non-linear electronic switch, have brought harmonic oscillations into the power grid. These changes lead to difficulties in stable operation, reduction of outages and management of variations in electric power systems. The emergence of the Digital Twin in the power system brings the opportunity to overcome these challenges. Digital Twin is a digital information model that accurately represents the state of every asset in a physical system. It can be used not only to monitor the operation states with actionable insights of physical components to drive optimized operation but also to generate abundant data by simulation according to the guidance on design limits of physical systems. The work addresses the topic of the origin of the Digital Twin concept and how it can be utilized in the optimization of power grid operation.

This book discusses capital separation processes of industrial interest and explores the potential for substantial improvement offered by a promising class of substances: ionic liquids. These low melting point salts, with their unique characteristics, have been gaining relevance in the field of separation through a variety of approaches. The chapters are structured from an application perspective, and cover the utilisation of ionic liquids in different unit operation contexts (distillation, liquid-liquid extraction, and solid-liquid extraction), giving an idea of their remarkable versatility. The final chapters focus on the use of ionic liquids in analytical applications based on separation ...

Volume 6/2 of the Catalogue of Palaearctic Coleoptera focuses on the second part of the beetle superfamily Chrysomeloidea reported from the Palaearctic biogeographic region. For the genus and species-groups taxa all relevant names are given and all nomenclatural data are cross-checked and the distribution of species and subspecies is given per country or smaller region. A group of 14 experts have worked to collect data based on a critical review of published sources including a significant amount of new information. This volume is also a tool for specialists as well as amateurs, which warrants unambiguous communication.

Homeostatic Control of Brain Function

Homeostatic Control of Brain Function

Homeostatic Control of Brain Function offers a broad view of brain health and diverse perspectives for potential treatments, targeting key areas such as mitochondria, the immune system, epigenetic changes, and regulatory molecules such as ions, neuropeptides, and neuromodulators. Loss of homeostasis becomes expressed as a diverse array of neurological disorders. Each disorder has multiple comorbidities - with some crossing over several conditions - and often disease-specific treatments remain elusive. When current pharmacological therapies result in ineffective and inadequate outcomes, therapies to restore and maintain homeostatic functions can help improve brain health, no matter the diagno...

This unique book is the only one to discuss various new techniques developed to enhance the application of nanoparticulate drug delivery systems using surface modification of nanoparticles. The understanding of the surface characteristics nano-particles is growing significantly with the advent of new analytical techniques. Polymer chemistry is contributing to the development of many new versatile polymers which have abilities to accommodate many different, very reactive chemical groups, and can be used as a diagnostic tool, for better targeting, for more effective therapeutic results as well as for reducing the toxic and side effects of the drugs. Surface modification of such polymeric nanoparticles has been found by many scientists to enhance the application of nanoparticles and also allows the nano particles to carry specific drug molecule and disease /tumor specific antibodies which refine and improve drug delivery. Surface Modification of Nanoparticles for Targeted Drug Delivery is a collection essential information with various applications of surface modification of nanoparticles and their disease specific applications for therapeutic purposes.
