Stalkers - Disturbing True Life Stories of Harassment, Jealousy and Obsession

This unsettling but fascinating book will give you a unique insight deep into the minds of stalkers and reveals how their sinister behaviour affects their victims. From shadowy online stalkers, to jealous ex-lovers, from obsessed admirers and insidious personal vendettas through to crazed and dangerous criminals, this book probes the innermost instincts of the characters involved in each of the terrifying - and increasingly common - crimes described here. Based on revealing interviews with policemen, psychiatrists and doctors, as well as the families of many of the true-life victims - both male and female - this is the first time that such a collection of stalking cases from across the UK has been presented in such vivid and memorable detail. From the high-profile Marchese/Falkowski case currently proceeding through the courts, to the tragic events of lesser-known fatal stalkings, these stories read like fiction - but everything published is based on startling fact.

Im hoping my life story will give insight to people who live and suffer from mental illness and help them receive a clearer form of understanding of their similar diseases in an effort for them to better cope with their everyday lives armed with new knowledge to avoid certain emotional situations when the going gets rough. The importance of staying on prescribed medications cannot be overstated. Saying youre better when youre not seems to be the trap that gets many people into trouble. Responsibly going to necessary appointments with therapists to talk about lingering issues, such as social anxieties, dark emotions and explosive anger disorders, as well as deep life sapping depression, is clearly imperative. This story sets in stone all the hard lessons I had to learn and harshly tried to live through; a condition most parents would not wish on their kids. I went through many stages to finally gain an official diagnosis. In this autobiography I revisit the details of my life from 7 years of age to my present age of 42 years. Im confident my long history with psychological issues will shed abundant light on the ones who have lost hope.

Vital Memory and Affect takes as its subject the autobiographical memories of ‘vulnerable’ groups, including survivors of child sexual abuse, adopted children and their families, forensic mental health service users, and elderly persons in care home settings. In particular the focus is on a particular class of memory within this group: recollected episodes that are difficult and painful, sometimes contested, but always with enormous significance for a current and past sense of self. These ‘vital memories’, integral and irreversible, can come to appear as a defining feature of a person’s life. In Vital Memory and Affect, authors Steve Brown and Paula Reavey explore the highly produc...

In this book Martin McQuillan brings Derrida's writing into the immediate vicinity of geo-politics today, from the Kosovan conflict to the war in Iraq. The chapters in this book follow both Derrida's writing since Specters of Marx and the present political scene through the former Yogoslavia and Afghanistan to Palestine and Baghdad. His 'textual activism' is as impatient with the universal gestures of philosophy as it is with the complacency and reductionism of policy-makers and activists alike. This work records a response to the war on thinking that has marked western discourse since 9/11.
