A McAdams Family History
Members of the McAdam family came to America from Scotland or Ireland in about 1720 and settled in Virginia and then again in 1740 when the brothrs Samuel and William came from Ireland and settled in New England. Later generations moved to Pennsylvania, and further west with some settling in Kentucky and elsewhere. Information on the descendants of Samuel McAdams who settled in Kentucky soon after the Revolutionary War is included in this volume.
My Findings
The Brown family moved to Tennessee about 1810 from Lunenburg County, Virginia. Lunenburg Co. was formed from Brunswick Co. in 1746. Descendants of John Brown, Jr., son of John and Jane? Brown, whose will was dated on Aug. 22, 1753. At the time of his death he lived in Prince George Co., and prior to that in Brunswick County. Another early ancestor, Benjamin Allen (b. ca. 1760), of English ancestry, lived in Bedford Co., Tennessee according to 1820 and 1830 census.
