Portion of a letter book, 22 Apr. 1794-31 May 1797, written from Charleston, S.C., and Lloyd's plantation on the Ashley River, Springfield, containing chiefly letters to his sister, Mary Lloyd, and other members of his family in England, and his niece and nephew, Julia and Richard Lloyd Champion, at Camden, S.C., re family affairs, business conditions, relations with England and France, conditions and treatment of his African American slaves or "servants," and comments on George Washington, "The great, the incomparable President of the U.S." Later items include inventory of estate, 9 Jan. 1808; notes on the Lloyd family; and typed copies of part of the letter book.
