The third report and appendix of the Committee on Standards and Privileges, together with the proceedings of the committee relating to the report. This considered further information regarding the original complaint made against Mr John Maxton, that he had misled the Fees Office and abused public money by using Westminster allowances to pay his campaign staff during the Scottish Parliament elections. The Committee found that the new evidence presented did not justify a review of the original decision, and little purpose would be served by calling witnesses to take oral evidence. Therefore, the complaint was not upheld. Previously, in Cctober 2000, the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards upheld the complaint, but after consideration by the Standards and Privileges Committee in December 2000, the complaint was not upheld.
