Letters by Edward John Tarver to the RIBA, 1873-1889
Some of the letters were written as Hon. Sec. of the RIBA Art Standing Committee from 1888 to 1889: topics include the practice among some architects of receiving commissions from quantity surveyors; the proposed extension of Queen Anne's Mansions, Westminster; alterations to the building line of Marylebone Road, Westminster; arrangements for the exhibition of British architects' drawings at the International Congress of Architects at Paris (1889).

During the Cold War, Britain had an astonishing number of contacts and connections with one of the Soviet Bloc's most hard-line regimes: the German Democratic Republic. The left wing of the British Labour Party and the Trade Unions often had closer ties with communist East Germany than the Communist Party of Great Britain (CPGB).
