Plant Cell Culture Protocols
A comprehensive state-of-the-art collection of the most frequently used techniques for plant cell and tissue culture. Readily reproducible and extensively annotated, the methods range from general methodologies, such as culture induction, growth and viability evaluation, and contamination control, to such highly specialized techniques as chloroplast transformation involving the laborious process of protoplast isolation and culture. Most of the protocols are currently used in the research programs of the authors or represent important parts of business projects aimed at the generation of improved plant materials. El libro es el resultado de varios años de investigación del autor sobre los problemas, aún no resueltos, de la práctica laboral de los profesionales universitarios en formación, en las empresas donde deben insertarse con tal objetivo. Del análisis de los resultados investigativos que, sobre la calidad de sus graduados universitarios, realiza regularmente el Ministerio de Educación Superior, se encontraron insuficiencias en su formación, relacionadas con los componentes curriculares investigativo y laboral a los cuales se le dedica como promedio, en todas las carreras, el 29% del tiempo de los currículos y cuya etapa más rica y creativa transcurre en las empresas en las que se insertan, a las que se denomina unidades docentes.
